They contain substances that can be very harmful to dogs.  They can cause anemia and destroy red blood cells. That being said, consuming them can also lead to kidney failure and other serious health problems.

As for garlic, your dog would have to consume large amounts of it to die because of it. But some dogs are very sensitive even to garlic powder.

Although these ingredients are only used in very small quantities as a natural preservative, they are not recommended for our dogs at all.

If a dog eats onion or garlic, it does not immediately get sick. Sometimes four to five days pass before the first symptoms appear.

However, the sweetener xylitol, which is contained in some sweets or chewing gum, is critical and come in top of harmful food for pets. Because this substance causes a greater release of insulin, the dog’s blood sugar level drops drastically. The result can be cramps, coordination difficulties and sometimes liver damage or even liver failure. Sweets and other sweets have therefore lost nothing on a dog’s diet – if they contain sweeteners, they can even be harmful to fatal.

Boiled or fried bones

The risk of splintering is higher when the bones are softened, i.e. boiled, fried or cooked. The result: The four-legged friend could get injuries in the mouth, in the esophagus or in the gastrointestinal tract. In the worst case, it leads to deadly bowel obstruction.
